Wan Fayhsal to Farhash: We'll meet in court

PETALING JAYA: Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said that he would defend in court the remarks he made about the former political secretary of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

In a statement, Wan Fayhsal who is also Machang MP said that he would soon submit his defence to the defamation suit that Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak had filed against him.

He said that Farhash's allegation of defamation was entirely without merit.

Former Perak PKR leader Farhash has filed a defamation suit against Wan Fayhsal for RM10 million, alleging that he conspired to influence opposition MPs to support the ruling government.

Wan Fayhsal said a recent report in Berita Harian regarding his litigation was manipulated to appear as if it were an attempt to intimidate the opposition into disclosing information against the interest of the people.

He said he had appointed a lawyer and will be at the court on Feb 19.

"My defence will demonstrate that the claim is entirely unfounded," said the statesman.

Wan Fayhsal said the lawsuit would not affect his focus and attention from continuing to speak out on issues concerning the public interests.
