3 nabbed over Tuaran robbery

KOTA KINABALU: Police have arrested three men for robbing a woman on the side of the Tuaran Bypass near Kampung Rampayan, here, on March 7.

The three local men, aged between 24 and 36, were arrested by Sabah Criminal Investigation Department (CID) policemen from the Serious Crimes Division (D9) yesterday in three separate raids in Kampung Pulutan and Kampung Darau.

State CID chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Azmi Abd Rahim said all the suspects admitted to being involved in the robbery.

The 37-year-old victim had also confirmed the identity of the three men.

"As a result of the arrest of the three suspects, police seized a Proton Wira Aeroback car, a Michael Kors brand handbag, a pair of earrings, and several other items such as tyre levers, screwdrivers, spanners, and a hammer," he said when contacted today.

Azmi said further investigations were being conducted under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.

During the incident on March 7, the victim suffered a loss of RM5,000 when she was robbed by three men while resting on the side of the Tuaran Bypass after a long journey from Sipitang.

In the incident at 4.30am, the victim also sustained injuries to both arms when she struggled with the three men.
