JOHOR BARU: Jealousy turned ugly for a man after he was assaulted by his friend's husband at a petrol station in Taman Bukit Indah, here, recently.
In a 46-second-long clip, which has gone viral on social media, the assailant is seen throwing several punches and kicks at the victim.
The assailant later channeled his anger towards a woman, believed to be his wife, who was trying to break up the altercation between the two men.
Police, in a statement today, confirmed that it has received reports separately lodged by the victim and the suspect after the clip went viral.
Iskandar Puteri acting police chief Superintendent Ibrahim Mat Som said police have also arrested the suspect to facilitate an investigation into the case.
The 35-year-old suspect, he said, was arrested at Lebuh Kota Iskandar at about noon today.
"According to the report lodged by the victim, he claimed that he was assaulted by the husband of his friend. The suspect also lodged a separate police report.
"Investigation of the victim and the suspect showed the altercation had stemmed from jealousy," read the statement.
Ibrahim said the case is being investigated under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and intimidation.
The police, he said, will also apply a remand order against the suspect at the magistrate's court here to allow them to continue their investigation into the case.
