BENTONG: An unidentified body has been found on a hillside road heading down from Genting Highlands yesterday.
Bentong police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said his team received information about the discovery of the body from the public at around 3.40pm.
He said a team of police officers from the Bentong police headquarters along with the Pahang Contingent Forensic Unit arrived at the scene to conduct an examination.
"The initial examination by the police at the scene confirmed the discovery of a body whose identity has not yet been ascertained.
"The victim's body has been sent to HTAA (Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital) for further investigation," he said in a midnight statement last night.
He said, for the time being, the case is being investigated as sudden death while awaiting the full forensic report.
"We appeal to anyone with information about this incident to come forward to assist in the investigation or contact the Bentong police operations room at 09-2222222 or the nearest police station.
"The police also urge the public who have lost family members to come forward and make reports at any nearby police station," he added.
