Brother pleads not guilty to threatening to assault sister

KOTA BHARU: An unemployed man pleaded not guilty to charges of criminal intimidation against his younger sister, causing fear, at the Magistrate's Court here today.

Haslimi Hasan, 40, entered the plea after the charges were read to him in front of Magistrate Ahmad Syafik Aizat Nazri, with the assistance of an interpreter.

He was accused of making criminal threats and causing fear to his 30-year-old sister. He had reportedly threatened to hit her with a metal rod and a piece of glass.

The incident took place at a house in Kampung Tok Dokang, Jalan Lorong Kubur Banggol, here, at 3pm on April 5.

He was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment for up to two years, or a fine, or both.

Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Aiman Syahmi Yazid prosecuted, while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.

Earlier, Muhammad Aiman Syahmi proposed a bail amount of RM5,000 for the accused.

The court allowed bail of RM4,500 with one surety and set May 30 for mention and submission of documents.
