Man taken on terror ride, robbed of RM18,000 in Kuantan

KUANTAN: Three men impersonating as police officers robbed a 24-year-old investment trainer before abandoning the victim at a cemetery in Bukit Ubi here hours later.

The victim lost about RM18,000 in the May 2 incident.

Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the incident unfolded about 5.30pm when the victim and his girlfriend were at a restaurant in town.

"Three men wearing caps and face masks suddenly stepped out of a car and approached the duo. They introduced themselves as policemen before pulling the victim into the car.

"The victim claimed that his head was covered with a cloth and he was taken into a building. He was then told to surrender all his cash and valuables.

"About 1.30am on May 3, the suspects dropped the victim with his face still covered at a cemetery. The victim managed to contact his female friend for help before they lodged a police report," he said, adding the victim was left unharmed.

Yahaya said investigations revealed that the car had used a fake vehicle registration number plate.

In a 42-second video posted on a Facebook page, three men dressed in black outfits could be seen pushing the victim into a car.
