SHAH ALAM: A lorry transporting batteries caught fire at Km9 of the Elite highway near the Bukit Jelutong Toll Plaza here this afternoon.
A Selangor Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said the 12.35pm fire had destroyed the one-tonne lorry, but fortunately no one was injured in the incident.
A video of the incident circulating on social media showed continuous explosions from the burning lorry near a petrol station.
"A team of seven firemen led by Operation Commander Mohd Khairul Mat Yassin from Bukit Jelutong Fire and Rescue station arrived at the scene shortly after to put out the fire," the spokesperson said in a brief statement.
He added that preliminary investigation showed that the lorry was carrying batteries.
