Thumbs up for PR1MA, PPA1M housing schemes

PUTRAJAYA: Most Even low-income earners dream of owning a house that is below market value and at a convenient location.

1Malaysia People’s Housing Programme (PR1MA) unit owner Wan Mohammad Wan Din, 38, said he was lucky that his wife applied for a PR1MA unit.

Wan Mohammad said the government housing project had been proven to help the people, especially newly-weds, buy houses.

“Although PR1MA houses are cheaper compared with the ones in the market, they are of good quality compared with other low-cost houses. Plus, most are located in strategic areas.

“Most importantly, there are no water woes in the area.”

Another PR1MA unit owner, who wanted to be known only as Wan Anita, 47, said PR1MA units were worth buying as the vetting process was fair.

“I bought the house for RM120,000. I think it is worth it as the house is located in an urban area.

“Every owner went through a balloting session to determine his or her unit.

“It is not easy to get affordable houses in urban areas, especially with facilities.

Civil servant Mohd Redzuan Abdul Rahim, 33, praised the government’s move to provide affordable housing for public servants through the 1Malaysia Civil Servants Housing Scheme (PPA1M).

“It is easy for civil servants to own a house at an affordable price under this project.

“The effort to implement the project is laudable, but it needs to be improved further so that residents do not face problems.”

Another civil servant, who wanted to be known only as Suhaini, 28, said she applied for a PPA1M unit when she learned that her colleagues had successfully owned homes via the project.
