1,356 agencies, companies signed Corruption-Free Pledge in 2018

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,356 agencies and private companies signed the Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) last year.

MACC public education division director Tuan Ruslan Tuan Mat said the number included 55 private companies which signed the IBR in support of MACC’s fight against corruption and abuse of power.

“This year, we (MACC) will intensify our efforts further, calling for more companies in the private sector to sign the IBR, including the government-linked companies (GLCs),” he told reporters after the signing of the IBR by the Malaysian Factors Association (MFA).

He said, according to the new provisions under Section 17 of the MACC Act 2009, every entity registered under the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) had to take its own initiatives in fighting corruption. – Bernama
