PUTRAJAYA: The government is in the process of drafting mid and long-term plans to address the haze problem in the country.
Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (Mestecc) Minister Yeo Bee Yin said a statement would be issued on the matter, which will list out measures to be taken.
She added her ministry would also work with all state governments including Sarawak, which was one of the states affected most by the haze, to manage open burning issues at the state level.
"We will throw our full support behind the state governments, to look at what more can be done to tackle this problems," she told reporters after attending a programme to encourage taska (nurseries) operators to register with the Welfare Department.
According to Yeo, the cloud-seeding exercises to combat the haze had proven a success based on the improved air quality over the past few days.
She said after five operations, the Air Pollutant Index (API) had recorded healthier readings in all states.
As of 6pm today, all air quality monitoring stations under the Department of Environment recorded either good or moderate level of API.
