Govt looking to reduce SOP numbers to only 10

KUALA LUMPUR: The government is working towards reducing the existing 181 standard operating procedures (SOP) in place to curb Covid-19 spread to only 10.

Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said this will make it easier for the people to understand and comply with, as the country gears toward treating the Covid-19 as endemic.

"Give me a bit of time," he told reporters during a special Press conference at Parliament here today.

Hishammuddin, who heads the country's Covid-19 response efforts, is upbeat that the matter can be achieved and implemented based on inputs from the National Security Council.

Asked if there is a specific timeline fixed by the government in the efforts to reduce the number of SOPs, Hishamuddin said it will take between two and three weeks.

"I hope it can be done between two and three weeks," he said.
