SPNB, Felda partnership to produce homes priced as low as RM45k per unit

KUALA LUMPUR: Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB) and the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the Felda New Generation Housing Programme.

Felda chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad said with the smart partnership with SPNB, houses could be affordable from as low as RM45,000 per unit.

“We hope to build 20,000 start-up houses of 1,000 sq ft each in two years under this initiative,” he told a press conference at Menara Felda here today.

The total subsidy for these 20,000 start-up houses is estimated at RM600 million.

Shahrir said Felda provides for the land and infrastructure cost, while SPNB focuses on building the start-up houses and would subsidise up to RM20,000 per unit.

The Felda New Generation Housing Project has three phases — Phase 1 involves 8,454 units, Phase 2 involves 10,746 units and Phase 3 involves 800 units.
