STB runners to raise awareness for disabled kids at Borneo Int'l Marathon

KOTA KINABALU: Twenty-two runners will represent the Sabah Tourism Board (STB) to raise awareness of children with disabilities at the 10th anniversary of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Borneo International Marathon here, next month.

The marathon run, themed #thisability, is aimed at supporting the right for all children to play, indulge in recreational activities, and participate in sports.

It will be held on May 7 at the Stadium Likas.

Co-organised by the Borneo International Marathon, the Kinabalu Running Club and UNICEF, this year’s run also hopes to raise awareness and address the stigma and discrimination faced by children with disabilities.

Newly-elected president of STB Majlis Bersama Jabatan (MBJ), Christina Wong, said the event is a platform for tourism staff to show their support and engage with disabled children for a good cause.

“We encourage our staff to have a good work-life balance, especially since we are working in the tourism industry.

“We hope our staff will continue this active lifestyle throughout the year," she said.
