Four juveniles nabbed for motorcycle thefts

KEMAMAN: Four teenagers have been detained by police over a series of motorcycle theft cases in two villages in the district.

District police chief Superintendent Mohd Said Ibrahim said the suspects were picked up near Kampung Ibok and Kampung Jong Berlabuh separately following a tip-off.

Police also seized several components believed to have been dismantled from two stolen motorcycles.

“Initial investigation revealed they were involved in at least two motorcycle theft cases reported in the Ibok residential area,” he said.

Checks showed two Honda EX5 were reported missing, one in Ibok on April 18, while another in the same area some time last month.

“Our probe showed the group always start their operations after midnight,” he said.

Mohd Said said the case was being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for motorcycle theft.

The suspects have been remanded for five days to facilitate investigations.
