Tun M, DAP, Amanah skewered on 3rd day of Pas Muktamar

ALOR STAR: Pas members have been urged to be wary of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) and its chairman, former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

While debating the president's keynote speech during the 63rd Muktamar today, Johor Pas delegate, Mohamad Nazari Mokhtar, said Tun Mahathir has to be dealt with cautiously due to his endless “U-turns”.

"I would like to tell everyone that we must be careful with Tun Mahathir, who is also “Mr U-turn”. He initially wanted to be with Pas.

"But the moment he found out he could not be friends with Pas, he changed his opinion of us in the blink of an eye.

"He suddenly started attacking us. This is dangerous. Tun Mahathir's aim is actually to help save Umno and the Barisan Nasional government," he told delegates at the Kompleks Pas Kedah, here.

Nazari added that Pas’ leadership's decision not to form a political pact with PPBM was the right thing to do, and that PPBM's presence on the country's political landscape has only led to disunity among Malays.

Nazari reiterated that Pas would not be able to get Malay votes if they are not cautious with the newly-established party.

"This is the time for all of us to tell our friends out there that if they don't like the current government, do not vote for PPBM.

"If they are angry at the current government, join Pas, and we will fight together to Putrajaya," he added.

On the Pas-PKR spat, Nazari said he is disappointed with PKR's decision on choosing to side with other parties, instead of the Islamic party.

He also slammed the DAP, claiming that the party had tried to "ride Pas" when they were allies in the now-defunct Pakatan Rakyat.

However, he said due to the intelligence of Pas’ leadership in cutting ties with the DAP, the Islamic party has managed to escape that “friendship”.

"But some of our friends are stuck (with them). I guess they prefer to be used," he said, referring to the new Pas splinter party, Parti Amanah Negara (PAN).
