Foreign worker stabs wife to death in jealous rage in Miri

MIRI: A plantation worker from Indonesia stabbed his wife to death after he allegedly found her cheating on him with another man.

The incident took place at the workers’ quarters of an oil palm plantation in Kuala Baram in Baram near here, last night.

Fellow workers found the body of the victim, identified only as Ria, 24, also from Indonesia, at about 6am today.

It is believed that the suspect had an argument with Ria after he found her with another man. The argument escalated and in a jealous rage, the husband grabbed a sharp object and stabbed his wife multiple times. He later fled the scene.

“The victim’s husband, 27, was picked up by the police to facilitate investigation at about 8am today,” said Miri district police deputy chief Superintendent Stanley Jonathan Ringgit.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The body of the victim has been sent to the Miri Hospital here for a post-mortem.
