Week-long remand for worker who stabbed employer to death

IPOH: Police have obtained a week-long remand order against a worker who allegedly stabbed his employer to death yesterday.

District police chief Assistant Superintendent Yahaya Hassan said that the 54-year-old man would be remanded beginning today until Jan 11.

He added that the suspect is being remanded and investigations are being done under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

"The results of the autopsy revealed that the cause of death was due to stab wounds on the chest," he said.

It was reported yesterday that a 49-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her worker, while her boyfriend suffered injuries during a fight in front of a convenience store at Taman Rasi Jaya, Menglembu here.

Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said that police received a call from the public informing of a fight involving a sharp object at 10.55am.

Mohd Yusri said initial investigation showed that the woman was the owner of the mobile phone accessories shop. She died on the spot, believed to have been stabbed by her worker.

Mohd Yusri said that the cause of the incident is believed to be the result of a disagreement regarding financial problems between the woman and her worker.
