KUALA LUMPUR: The assistant warden who allegedly abused a pupil at a religious school in Johor was released on a court bond due to lack of evidence.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the deputy public prosecutor, after reviewing the investigation papers, decided to return it to the police to conduct further investigation into the case against the 29-year-old man.
He said police will continue to investigating the case, classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
"The deputy public prosecutor had asked the police to improve the investigation papers. So, investigation is on-going," he said.
Khalid was met after a police function at the Police College in Cheras, here today.
The suspect, who is an ex convict, was arrested on April 22. He was said to have whipped Mohamad Thaqif Amin Mohd Gaddafi, 11, and other students with a rubber hose as punishment.
Thaqif reportedly suffered from a bacterial infection due to the abuse. His legs were amputed and he died several days after the operation.
Meanwhile, Khalid said police did not received any pressure from any quarters in its detention of the Turkish duo, Turgay Karaman and Ihsan Aslan.
"Both of them were arrested under Section 130 for alleged involvement in activities that threaten the safety and security of the country... however I'm not going to reveal details of their activities," he said.
Khalid added that foreigners who came to the country to cause problem were not welcome.
"We Malaysians are peace loving people...We don't welcome foreigners who bring problems here to our country," he said.
On Tuesday, it was reported that Turgay was abducted by five men at the parking lot of a building in Bukit Damansara.
Khalid later confirmed that Turgay, as well as Ihsan, have been arrested.
