The event was jointly organised by Kota Warisan Cyclist, Sepang Municipal Council, Malaysia Airlines, Malaysia Airlines Cycling Club and Pinky Women Riders cycling club.

Some turned up as early as 7am to join the cycling event, which offered various interesting activities and prizes.

The event featured various race categories including men junior, men open, men junior master and women open.

In the jamboree group, there were the men open, women open, Wonderwoman and heavyweight categories.

Event programme director Taslim Jalal Ahmad said the race, in its fourth edition, even attracted participants from Thailand and Indonesia.

“Some professional cyclists were keen to take part in the race category as the routes were quite challenging.

“The routes include a hill at Bukit Tok Mat Rashid.

“This attracted the international participants who were eager to take up the challenge,” he told reporters.

The participants were flagged off at 8.25am.

The event offered prizes such as Malaysia Airlines flight ticket to any domestic destinations.

As for the lucky draw, the prizes include two tickets to London.

Muhammad Suhaimi Ghani, 22, who completed the Jamboree men open category, said he was satisfied that he managed to cross the challenging route along the palm oil field.

“I also had to pass through the hill and the surface was slippery due to the rain last night.

“I jogged and exercised daily to prepare myself for this race. It was tiring but an enjoyable experience,” he said.
