Subramaniam: Mega MyDaftar to roll out in June, register thousands of undocumented Indians

PUTRAJAYA: MIC President Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam has announced that the MyDaftar programme will now be rebranded as the ‘Mega MyDaftar’ programme.

Dr Subramaniam said that the Mega MyDaftar programme, initially introduced as MyDaftar in 2010 to register all undocumented Indians in the country, will be carried out on an even larger scale with the aim to reach out to several thousand Indians without birth certificates, identity cards and citizenships in the country within one month.

He said the massive exercise, to be held from June 3 to 26, is the first step in addressing the plight of the Indians under the Malaysian Indian Blueprint (MIB), which was initiated and launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on April 23.

“This time round we hope register each and every Indians without documentation and provide them with the documentation needed,” Dr Subramaniam said.

Over the past four years, he said, MIC through the MyDaftar programme has provided 7,126 people with the documentations needed out of 12,726 which have registered with them. Apart from that, there are 626 rejected applications which are being re-processed for registration.
