Remand for two Penang Zakat Centre officers extended another 4 days

GEORGE TOWN: The remand for two Penang Zakat Centre officers, including one with a Datuk title, has been extended for another four days, beginning today.

Magistrate Mohamad Amin Sahul Hamid has allowed the application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commissions (MACC) to extend the duo’s remand.

Last week, MACC had arrested 12 individuals, comprising the agency’s officers and contractors, on allegations of corruption and misappropriation of funds.

On Saturday, MACC released four contractors on bail and on Sunday, two Penang Zakat officers on a RM10,000 MACC bond each.

Earlier this morning, MACC released another three contractors on a RM5,000 bail each.

At 2.15pm, the two Penang Zakat officers arrived at court before leaving the building at about 3.15pm.

No new arrests have been made to date in connection with the graft case.
