GEORGE TOWN: Penang Gerakan has questioned PKR's silence over the freeze of a special quarterly RM50,000 disbursement to its Penanti assemblyman Dr Norlela Ariffin by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
Penang Gerakan vice chairman Oh Tong Keong said nine other PRK reps had failed to come forward and defend their own comrade when Lim announced it recently.
"What are they so afraid of? There are nine of them, not one but nine including the State Assembly Speaker Law Choo Kiang but none came forward to help their own comrade Norlela.
"Are they afraid of losing the funds as well?" he asked during a press conference at the state Gerakan headquarters at Jalan Macalister here today.
Lim had reported lt held back the disbursement to every state assemblyman who failed to attend the governor’s swearing-in ceremony held on April 29.
Since then, Norlela has taken to her Facebook page to express her dissatisfaction over the allegedly frozen funds. She has also launched her own fundraising campaign to finance projects or aid for her constituency.
The Facebook posting, however, was already taken down.
