Yearning for a miracle: Family hopes discovered remains aren't those of missing Bella

BATU PAHAT: Norhisham Samsusah, 36, expressed her hope that the discovered human remains in an abandoned rental house are not those of her sister, Mila Shamila, who went missing on Dec14.

The skeletal remains were found along with underwear in Kampung Batu 7, Tongkang Pechah.

Norhisham, accompanied by her mother, Noraini Salleh, 55, and other family members, arrived at the location to learn more about the discovery.

"My heart is somewhat heavy to deny the discovery of the remains, considering that the suspect who revealed the location is the person closest to Bella.

"If possible, (the remains) are not Bella's. I sincerely hope that God answers our prayers," she said.

Mila Shamila, a 32-year-old single mother of two, went missing on the night of Dec 14.

She had reportedly intended to go to a laundromat in Simpang Rantai but was later seen elsewhere with her male friend.

The main suspect believed to be close to Mila Shamila, led the police to the discovery of the remains in the abandoned rental house.

Norhisham's mother, Noraini Salleh, said if the remains belonged to her daughter, she would accept it, even though it would be too heavy to bear.

She emphasised the need for a fair punishment for those involved in the case for the sake of justice.

"I can forgive the perpetrator, but he cannot escape punishment. We hope that if the remains are indeed Bella's, we must receive justice accordingly," Noraini said.

Mila Shamila's male friend is being investigated under Section 365 of the Penal Code for kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine a person.
