GEORGE TOWN: A five-star hotel in Batu Ferringhi was today forced to issue a statement denying its involvement in organising a ‘beer for semen’ promotion in conjunction with ‘National Masturbation Month’ for the month of May.
The denial was made following the discovery of flyers - bearing the name of a beachside bar within the hotel - of a promotion, and bearing the crude words ‘May Has C*m... And So Should You.’
The flyer states that participants can received two bottles of beer in exchange for participating in the promotion.
A spokesman for the hotel today vehemently denied that the establishment had anything to do with the flyers.
“We became aware of the flyer, which was being shared on social media, this morning. We immediately lodged a report at the Batu Ferringhi police station.
"We are a family-oriented hotel and we have nothing to do with the flyer," said the spokesman.
The spokesman added that the hotel was unsure who was the intended victim, whether it was the hotel itself or the state government.
The flyer also bore the ‘Tourism Penang’ name, and the logo of a popular beer brand.
It has since gone viral on instant messaging applications.
National Masturbation Day, also known as International Masturbation Day, is an actual annual event celebrated on May 28. It has since been expanded to include the entire month of May as International Masturbation Month.
Meanwhile, Northeast district police chief Superintendent Anuar Omar said that its criminal investigation department has conducted an investigation.
“The flyers were believed to be the result of some quarters who were unhappy with the development of the five-star hotel,” he said.
