Police mull arson as possibility behind Seremban Terminal One fire

SEREMBAN: Police have not dismissed the possibility that a fire which destroyed 13 motorcycles at the Terminal One shopping mall here today, was an act of arson.

Seremban district police chief Assistant Commissioner Thiew Hock Poh said the case is currently being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal code.

“We urge those with information on the case to come forward to assist the investigation,” he said.

In the 1.39pm incident, 13 motorcycles were totally destroyed, while three other motorcycles were badly damaged.

Seremban Fire and Rescue Department head of operations, Razali Abdul Kadir said 18 firemen, a fire engine and a team from the Emergency Medical Response Service (EMRS) were rushed to the scene as soon as the department received the emergency call.

“We managed to control the fire from spreading to other motorcycles parked at the area. They were about 70 motorcycles at the location at the time of the incident,” he said.

Razali said no casualties were reported. The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still being investigated.
