Khairuddin says 'newbie' Syed Saddiq needs a lesson in humility

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) Armada chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was yesterday subjected to severe criticism when a former party member labelled him as “rude”, “arrogant” and “stupid”.

Former PPBM founding member Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan, in a statement last night said a rookie such as Syed Saddiq has no right to challenge someone much more senior than him.

Khairuddin said this in relation to Saddiq’s challenge issued against PPBM vice-president Datuk Hamidah Osman.

“He should practice some humility, especially as his career in politics is still in its early days.

“There are lots of political cultures that this young boy has to learn. In politics, we have to be humble, big-hearted, open minded and sincere,” Khairuddin said.

Syed Saddiq yesterday challenged Hamidah to resign from the party, alleging that she was the one responsible for the unravelling of Perak PPBM.

Recently, Ipoh Timur PPBM division chief Azrul Suhadi Ahmad Mokhtar and Teluk Intan chief Jemaat Yaacob led more than 1,000 Perak PPBM members in submitting their resignation letters.

They claimed that party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had failed to resolve conflicts at the national and state levels despite being given a week to do so.

Syed Saddiq had described Hamidah as a hypocrite who turned her back on Muhyiddin after she was denied the position of PPBM Perak chief.

“Challenging one another is not the way to solve PPBM’s internal turmoil. In politics we must be down to earth and not arrogant especially since you’re only a newbie in politics.

“What is he (Syed Saddiq) trying to prove? Is Armada that great? How many members do you have? Syed Saddiq has a lot to learn about politics,” Khairuddin added.
