IPOH: A man nearly died from being crushed by a trailer near Batu 6, Tambun, here yesterday after he fell asleep under the vehicle hours before.
The 39-year-old man, who lives in Taman Bagus, Ulu Kinta, is believed to have been drunk when he decided to take a nap under the huge trailer.
When the trailer lorry driver started his vehicle at about 5.50am, he unwittingly crushed the sleeping man, who reportedly suffered severe injuries to his left leg.
"We received a call from the public informing us about the incident at 5.51am.
"When our personnel arrived at the scene, the man was found unable to move, as his leg was broken after being crushed by the trailer. However, he was not trapped," said Ipoh Fire and Rescue chief P. Samasuvam.
He said firemen removed the victim from under the truck and sent him to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for further treatment.
The rescue operation ended at about 6.30am. – BERNAMA
