ALOR STAR: Kedahans have been reminded not to take the country's peace and stability for granted.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said by treasuring the country's peace and stability, the government can continue focusing on development programmes and looking after the people's welfare.
He said through peace and stability, the government will be able to bring development and economic prosperity, which in turn will bring benefit to the people.
"In this holy month of Ramadan, we should always be grateful that we are able to fast and being blessed with plenty of foods, unlike our Muslims brothers in certain war-ravaged countries," he said at the buka puasa and aid distribution programme in Bakar Bata constituency today.
The event, organised by state-linked company, Bina Darulaman Bhd (BDB) Group was held at Alor Merah Mosque here.
Citing an example, he said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had immediately approved RM800,000 allocation for the mosque's renovation project during his visit to Kedah several months back.
Bashah said this was made possible because the government has the financial capability to fulfil the people's wish due to the peace and stability enjoyed in the country.
