King, Queen pray for peace, prosperity for all in New Year's message

KUALA LUMPUR: The King and Queen today shared their New Year's message, in which they prayed for Malaysia and its people to be blessed with peace and prosperity.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, also asked for the country and its people to be shielded from any disasters or misfortune.

"May the people and the country be showered with blessings, peace and prosperity and be protected from any disasters or calamities.

May they also be blessed with health, the spirit of unity and enduring harmony," read the post, which was shared on Istana Negara's social media accounts.

This marks the last New Year's greeting for the royal couple as King and Queen.

Al-Sultan Abdullah will end his five-year tenure as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on January 30, 2024, after assuming the role in 2019.

Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar will assume the role as the 17th Agong on Jan 31.
