Penang's Sungai Ara market Complex to open for business this year

BAYAN LEPAS: Sungai Ara Golden Triangle Market Complex is set to open for business later this year after it received the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) recently.

The RM27mil project, which started back in mid 2015, is a joint venture between Koperasi Tunas Muda Sungai Ara and Ideal Property Group.

The complex boasts a total of 44 stalls that caters to both dry and wet goods markets. There will be a hawker centre with 25 stalls to accommodate the traders.

The top floor of the two-storey market is occupied by a multi-purpose community hall that comes complete with three badminton courts.

The complex will be handed over to Penang Island City Council (MBPP) soon and traders are expected to set up their business within the next three months.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the state government is committed to assist the small traders by offering a more conducive and comfortable environment for them to conduct their business.

Also present at the event today are Local Government and Traffic Management Committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow and MBPP Mayor Datuk Patahiyah Ismail.
