Foreign Ministry: No Malaysians affected by Finsbury Park Mosque attack

KUALA LUMPUR: The Foreign Affairs Ministry has said that no Malaysians were affected by the Finsbury Park Mosque attack.

In a statement released today, the ministry said that Malaysians residing around the park were advised to remain vigilant and to follow the instructions of the local authorities.

“Malaysia hopes that the perpetrators will soon be brought to justice,” said the statement read.

It was reported that a man has died and eight others were injured after a van ploughed into a group of people near the mosque in Finsbury Park early Monday morning.

“Malaysia extends its condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of the horrific incident.

“It is disconcerting as it seemed to be particularly targeted at worshipers who were just finishing their prayers during the holy month of Ramadan,” the ministry said.

It also stated that the High Commission of Malaysia in London is in close contact with the local authorities and are currently providing timely updates to the Malaysian community.

For any emergency or further information, Malaysians can contact the High Commission of Malaysia in London at 52 Bedford Row, London WC1R ALR or call +44 (0) 2007 242 4308 or e-mail mwlondon.kln@1govuc.gov.my.
