KUANTAN: A 54-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he was struck by a falling tree near Kuantan Port this evening.
Ab Aziz Jusoh from Taman Balok Makmur died in the 5.20pm mishap when he was buried under the fallen tree branches.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Anuar Hassan said the tree landed on the victim's Modenas Kriss motorcycle, and a Perodua Viva car.
"The motorcyclist could not escape when the branches from the tree landed on him. However, two people travelling in the car managed to get out of the vehicle.
"Firemen from Gebeng brought the victim out from the pile of branches before he was taken to the hospital. He was pronounced dead at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital(here)," he said in a statement.
It is learnt that the incident occurred during a downpour and strong wind in the area at 5pm.
