Langkawi girl sells ice-cream on motorcycle, video goes viral

LANGKAWI: Twenty-two year-old Noor Syamimi Azhari has never expected a video of her selling ice-cream on the island to become a big hit among netizens since it was uploaded two days ago.

The final year Biology student at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) had uploaded some photos and a video of her selling ice-cream on motorcycle with intention to help her father’s business.

Little did she know, the video has now been viewed more than 18,000 times and shared by other Facebook users and online portal under headlines that included ‘Si Cantik Penjual Aiskrim’ (Beauty sells ice-cream).

“It was a bit awkward when I was called such but I am looking at this positively because it can help my father’s business,” she said, adding that she was grateful for the encouragement and supports from netizens.

Syamimi, the only daughter of Azhari Hashim, 50, and Nor Azizah Hamid, 50, said she started selling ice-cream to help her father since she completed her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or secondary school education about four years ago.

She said her father had raised her by selling ice-cream, thus she was not ashamed to fill his shoes during semester breaks.

“He put me through school and university from selling ice-cream so this is one way I could repay him, by helping him to improve his business.” she said.
