MKH Bhd treats 22 underprivileged boys to Raya shopping spree

KAJANG: Twenty-two underprivileged children from Rumah Anak Yatim Darul Izzah, Bangi were treated to a shopping outing by MKH Bhd last Sunday, under its “Pelita Ramadan” programme.

Held at Mydin Mall in Semenyih, the programme aimed at bringing out spirit of blissful Ramadan by sharing love and seasonal joy with the 22 boys.

A total of 20 employees also took part as volunteers during the shopping trip with the children.

Prior to their departure to the mall, the children participated in an interactive group activity called “Spend Smartly”.

MKH volunteers guided each child in budget planning with an individual shopping allowance of RM150, which challenges their decision-making skills in differentiating between essential items that they want and need.

As an added fun factor to further motivate their abilities to spend wisely, prizes were given to three children with the best savings plan and were able to save the most allowance after spending.

Ahmad Mustakim Mukhalid, 14, said he got to learn how to spend wisely based on his budget.

“I am proud to be able to save almost RM60 from my budget,” said Mustakim, who won the prize for spending only RM90 from his original budget to buy all the items he needed.

His friend, Muhammad Airiel Adam Muhd Azizi, 10, thanked the company for organising a shopping trip for him and his friends.

“I am so excited with the choices of Hari Raya clothes available at the mall and I am a happy to be able to get my first set of 'baju melayu' for the coming Raya from this trip."

Meanwhile, MKH Bhd managing director Tan Sri Eddy Chen said the treat was to share the happiness of Ramadan and upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri with the underprivileged children.

“Just like everyone, shopping for new clothes is part of the festive joys for everyone, and we are happy to be able to provide all 22 children with their first set new clothes for the coming Aidilfitri celebration this year,” he said.

Mydin Mall also supported the company’s effort by surprising the children with additional discounts on all items purchased during the event.
