KOTA KINABALU: Police issued eight traffic summonses to express buses bound for Sabah’s east coast in an operation last night.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner M Chandra said the offenders include five vehicles overloaded with passengers, two buses with expired fire extinguishers and a bus operating without a second driver.
The two-hour operation, held along Jalan Tuaran near here, also saw 30 buses inspected by police before they were allowed to continue their journey.
Chandra said the operation was to ensure safe trips for people heading back to their hometowns for Hari Raya celebrations.
