Four students nabbed, 33 summonses issued in Ramadan traffic police op in Pasir Puteh

PASIR PUTEH: Four secondary students were nabbed by the police in its special operation codenamed 'Op Samseng Jalanan' here last night.

District police chief Superintendent Zaizul Rizal Zakaria said the four, aged 15 to 18, were arrested for riding their motorcycles recklessly and dangerously.

He said the operation, which began at 4pm and ended at midnight, involved 19 traffic officers.

Seven motorcycles were seized.

"The operation was carried out along Jalan Pasir Puteh-Tok Bali and it was held after police received complaints on their presence which caused uneasiness among the public.

"Apart from the four who were arrested, police issued 33 summonses to other motorcyclists for violating various traffic regulations."

The district police would continue carrying out similar operations to nab errant motorcylists.

"I would like to remind parents to monitor the behaviour of their children so they will not involve in any unhealthtly activities during the fasting month," he said.
