Malaysians throng Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House at Seri Perdana

PUTRAJAYA: Thousands of Malaysians thronged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's Hari Raya Open House today, despite the scorching hot weather.

People from all walk of life queued up patiently since 8am for the open house which only began at 11am.

Looking resplendent in a rusty red Baju Melayu, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak arrived at 11.30am, and began immediately greeting guests.

Also playing host at the Cabinet Open House Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, International,Trade and Industry Minister, Datuk Seri Mustapha Mohammad and Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

Some 70,000 local and foreign visitors are expected to attend the open house which will be open until at 4pm.

As soon as the gates were opened, the premier's official residence grounds of Seri Perdana were opened, it transformed into a sea of people.

Visitors also did not miss the opportunity to greet and take photographs with the Prime Minister and VIP’s.

Diplomats and leaders from both sides of the political divide, as well as non- governmental organisations representatives, also attended the open house.

Visitors were served a variety of food, mostly local delicacies such as satay, rendang, lemang, ketupat and nasi himpit, and those leaving after the meal also received a goodie pack while children were given 'duit raya' cash packets.
