Eight Melaka flood victims allowed to return home

MELAKA: Eight people from two families in Alor Gajah near here, who were evacuated due to the floods last night, have been allowed to return home at 8am today.

Melaka Civil Defence Force director Lt Col (PA) Effendy Ali said only 27 people from six families were still at two relief centres in Alor Gajah, from 35 people (eight families) last night.

The two relief centres which were opened in Alor Gajah to accommodate the victims are at Balairaya Bukit Balai (14 people from two families) and Balairaya Kampung Pulau (13 people from four families), he said in a statement here today.

However, he said, 91 people from 19 families in Jasin were still at the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tehel.

The villages affected by the floods in Alor Gajah are Kampung Padang Kerbau Bukit Tambun, Kampung Bukit Balai and Kampung Pulau, while the villages affected in Jasin are Kampung Tanjung Laboh and Kampung Parit Lampong. --BERNAMA
