Cops nab unemployed man dealing syabu at KK roadside

KOTA KINABALU: Police nabbed an unemployed man believed to be trafficking in drugs during a raid here on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, the police narcotics team was despatched to Inanam town at 6.15pm and conducted an observation of the man, who was behaving suspiciously.

The 34-year-old man, from Beaufort, had with him a bag and was believed to be waiting for a customer by the roadside.

“The police team approached and immediately apprehended the man.

“Upon inspection (of his bag, the team found) a packet containing crystal substances believed to be syabu. The drugs weighed 30.71 grams,” said District police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra.

Also found in the bag were the man’s identification card and mobile phone. All seized items are estimated to be worth RM3,000.

He added that the man tested positive for drugs.

Chandra said the suspect will be remanded until July 5 for investigation under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
