Consul General of China to Kota Kinabalu ends term today

KOTA KINABALU: Consul General of China to Kota Kinabalu, Chen Peijie officially ended her term as she departed for Beijing today.

Chen, who was the first Consul General of China to Kota Kinabalu, said: “I will remember the deep feelings and accomplishments we have experienced here.

"I would like to thank all my Sabah friends for everything," she told a press conference at Kota Kinabalu International Airport.

On key areas of Sabah-China relations that should be explored, Chen said tourism was one of the important sectors.

"The tourism sector here should be promoted internationally, including for the Chinese market.

"Chinese enterprises have been coming to Sabah to survey and see if they can invest - so it is (definitely a good idea to keep expanding Sabah's appeal).

"My hope is that a true relationship between Sabah and China is formed in the future, and I believe that my successor will do a good job in this regard," she said.

Chen was appointed as the Consul General to Kota Kinabalu on Jan 30, 2015.

As of now, her successor is yet to be appointed.
