Umno to send out unity message at Hari Raya open house

KUALA LUMPUR: The Umno’s Hari Raya open house this Sunday will be sending out a message of unity amongst its members.

“Togetherness” will be the main theme at the open house to commemorate the lasting relationship between the leaders and members of the party since it will be last Hari Raya celebration before the coming election.

Umno headquarters secretary general Datuk Nor Azuwan Aziz said Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, along with leading Umno members will be present to greet guests at the open house.

“Since this will be the last Hari Raya celebration for the existing party leaders before the election next year, we want to use the theme to remind of the years we have had in Umno,” said Azuwan during the preparation of the open house at Dewan Tun Razak 1.

“We are 90 per cent complete and are waiting for the food booths to be fully decorated. The hall is expected to be filled with decorations to signify all of the 13 states plus there are about 20 tents to be erected for the guests this Sunday,” he said, adding that the open house is open to the public too.

“Guests will be entertained with performances by the Melaka Art Brigade, a ghazal dance troop from Johor and dikir barat buskers from Kelantan,” he said, adding that other artists performing include Datuk Jamal Abdillah, Misha Omar and Sufian Suhaimi.

Azuwan said they are expecting some 50,000 to 70,000 guests nationwide, advising those who intend to attend to opt for public transportation instead as the area will be heavily congested.

The open house’s main attraction is the food pavilion, which will feature traditional delicacies from all 13 states in Malaysia, including laksa Johor, kuih akok, and rendang tok.

The open house will be held from 11am to 3pm at Dewan Tun Razak 1, Putra World Trade Centre.
