KOTA BARU: Up to 3,445 Malaysians were hauled up by the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) for committing various tax-related offences over the last three years.
IRB deputy chief executive officer (policy) Datuk Noor Azian Abdul Hamid said the offenders, hailing from across the country, comprise 1,687 company owners and 1,758 individuals.
He said the group had failed to file Form C, or the Return Form for a Company to the IRB, in spite of being active and possessing high-value assets.
"To create public awareness on the importance of paying taxes and submitting Form C, the IRB decided to launch ‘Ops Patuh.’
"In Kelantan, 1,279 IRB personnel will be taking part in the five-day operation, which kicks off today," he told a press conference after launching the state-level Ops Patuh at the IRB Kota Baru branch office here today.
Also present at the launch was state IRB director Shaufee Salleh.
