NSTP Group wins three PEMUDAH Journalism Competition awards

PUTRAJAYA: The News Straits Times Press won big today, bagging three awards for the Special Task Force to Facilitate Business (PEMUDAH) Journalism Competition 2016.

Group chief executive officer, Datuk Abdul Jalil Abdul Hamid led the way by winning the second prize for the English Category with his report entitled 'Beefing Up Malaysia's Logistics Sector'.

New Straits Times’ Business Times journalist, Lidiana Rosli grabbed the third place with her report; 'Keep Business-Friendly Policies, MEF Urges Govt'.

Lidiana was also recently selected as one of Khazanah Nasional Bhd's candidate for the Wolfson Press Fellowship programme at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Berita Harian journalist, Shahrizan Salian won consolation prize in the Malay Category through his report; "Bank Dunia Sedia Bantu Tingkat Ranking'.

In the Broadcast Category, Norshafa Wahid of TV3 won the consolation prize for her on-air piece entitled "Laporan Menjalankan Perniagaan: Malaysia Berada Pada Kedudukan 23 Daripada 190 Negara."

TV3 is part of Media Prima Bhd group of companies, which is also the parent company of the NSTP Group.

The winners took home cash prizes of RM5,000, RM3,000 and RM1,000 respectively.

Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, chief secretary to the Malaysian government as well as the PEMUDAH chairman presented the awards to the winners earlier today.

The competition is open to all journalists working for any Malaysia-based media organisations.

Articles focusing on one or more of the 11 areas if Doing Business in Malaysia as outlined by PEMUDAH are eligible for the competition.

PEMUDAH was founded in 2007 to address the urgent need for closer collaboration between both the public and private sectors to enhance the public service delivery and improve Malaysia's business environment.
