DUNGUN: The State Marine Department's assistant director was killed and his two friends injured when the Toyota Fortuner they were travelling in skidded and rammed into a road divider near Felda Kerteh 2, here, today.
The victim, Mohd Zulhazwan Roslan @Abdul Ghani, 30, was driving the department's vehicle in the 6.15pm crash at KM341.5 of the East Coast Highway (LPT2).
A police spokesman said the victim died on the spot due to serious head and body injuries.
His two friends, who were seriously injured, were rushed to the Dungun Hospital for treatment
"We believe the vehicle had skidded and rammed into the road divider before turning turtle," he said.
Zulhazwan, from Seberang Marang, was heading home to Kuala Terengganu from Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, Dungun Fire and Rescue station chief Amri Mohamad said the victim was pinned inside the vehicle and it took the firemen some time to extricate his body.
