Mercedes rear-ends police patrol car in KL; 2 injured, video goes viral

KUALA LUMPUR: Two policemen sustained injuries when their patrol car was rear-ended by a Mercedes-Benz at Jalan Loke Yew here on Saturday afternoon.

City Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department Legal Affairs offi¬cer Deputy Superinte¬ndent Shafie Daud said the 3.50pm accident occurred when the 47-year-old Mercedes-Benz driver rammed the stationary patrol car which had stopped due to traffic.

"The collision caused the patrol car to crash into the car in front of it.

"The victims, aged 30 and 45, who serve in the Dang Wangi district, were sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment.

"A 30-year-old cop fractured his left hand and is still being treated at the hospital; while the 45-year-old driver sustained bruises to his right leg and right arm," Shafie said when contacted today.

A 35-second video taken from a dashcam depicting the incident has been circulating on social media since Saturday.
