MACC visit to Deloitte Malaysia office 'not a raid', company clarifies

KUALA LUMPUR: Deloitte Malaysia today clarified that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) visit to its office today was not a raid.

Deloitte Malaysia’s Country Managing Partner, Tan Theng Hooi, in a statement this evening, said MACC officers visited the premises at Menara LGB in Taman Tun Dr Ismail to gather information on a case the agency was investigating.

“The MACC officers requested our assistance in providing information relating to their investigation, and we are cooperating fully with them to provide all required information to assist their investigation,” Tan said.

He noted that Deloitte Malaysia is not under investigation with respect to the Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) London hotel probe, or any other matters.

“As a responsible organisation, we will cooperate with the MACC and all other authorities in accordance with the provisions of the law,” he said.

Earlier this morning, MACC officers had visited Deloitte Malaysia and two other companies simultaneously, believed to be over a probe involving FIC’s property purchase issue.

This came about MACC opened an investigation paper on the allegedly dubious purchase of a hotel in London, estimated to cost RM330 million in 2014.
