FIC Sarawak hotel buy: MACC expected to call in witnesses to assist investigations

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is expected to call in witnesses to assist with the probe into Felda Investment Corporation’s (FIC) purchase of a hotel in Sarawak.

MACC in a statement today said its Chief Commisioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad has instructed for an investigation paper to be opened to probe into the purchase of the four-star hotel in Kuching.

“Investigation paper on the purchase of the hotel was opened following the information received by the investigation team during the course of a probe into the purchase of another hotel in London.

“Dzulkifli has instructed for an investigation paper to be opened to probe into the purchase of the hotel in Kuching, which is suspected to have been bought at a higher price than the market value,” the statement said.

It was reported that the hotel comprised 213 units of guest rooms and apartment suites.
