Cherating pupil in stable condition, recovering after fall from school building's fourth floor

KUANTAN: The 12-year-old pupil who fell from the fourth floor of SK Cherating here on Monday is out of danger and in stable condition.

Muhammad Syawal Heri, along with four friends, had climbed the school’s roof before he lost his footing and slipped at about 3.30pm.

District education department officer Mohd Razali Mustafar said representatives from the school had visited the pupil at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital here after he was transferred from Kemaman Hospital last night.

"The boy is improving but will remain in hospital for further observation. We will do the necessary to assist the victim.

"Internal investigations conducted by the department revealed that the respective school was not at fault. Syawal had attended extra classes after school and after the classes ended, he along with a few friends had climbed the school's roof to catch birds before he fell," he said today.

In the incident, Syawal from Kampung Bukit Palas, Cherating fell from a height of 30m and was rushed to Kemaman Hospital due to severe head injuries.
