No shortage in road tax stickers, says Pos Malaysia

MELAKA: There is no shortage in physical road tax discs at all Pos Malaysia Bhd branches nationwide.

A Pos Malaysia spokesperson, who declined to be named, said the postal service had no problems fulfilling requests from customers who wanted to renew their road tax.

“Pos Malaysia declines to comment on this matter because it is under the Road Transport Department.

“However, on our side, there is no issue of (road tax discs shortages), even in Kuala Lumpur,” he told the New Straits Times today.

He added that the company’s operations team had printed out notices in the event of a shortage.

“If there is a shortage, then our branches will put up the notices. So far, we have not received any reports of a shortage.”

There are a total of 29 post offices offering road tax renewal services state-wide.

Meanwhile, a Melaka Road Transport Department spokesman said the number of Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM) discs was sufficient to cater to the needs of vehicle owners in the state until the end of the year.

“On average, we issue between 800 and 900 LKM discs daily at our offices in Bukit Katil, Jasin and Urban Transformation Centre in Jalan Hang Tuah,” he said.

The NST yesterday reported that a supply problem is wreaking havoc on motorists in the Klang Valley, and at least in another part of the country, who want to renew their road tax.

An RTD spokesman had told the New Straits Times the service disruption, which has been ongoing since last month, was due to issues experienced by the contractor responsible for supplying the stickers.

He had said the disruption was expected to continue for at least another month.
