MAHB mobilises 200 ambassadors to welcome contingents, supporters

SEPANG: As the custodian of Malaysia’s premier gateway into the country, the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is set to place 200 Welcoming Ambassadors at key passenger touch points to provide operational and directional assistance to the incoming foreign contingents and supporters for the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games (KL2017).

Its managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali told the media that the ambassadors are part of MAHB’s role as the official ‘Welcoming Partner of KL2017’ in order to ensure everyone involved in the Games feels welcomed.

“We are delighted to be able to play this role especially as this is also our silver jubilee year. We think that our involvement in KL2017 marks an important milestone in the celebration of our 25th anniversary.

“It is very exciting to be part of a piece of Malaysia’s history. That is why we are also rallying other Malaysians to join in the excitement through KL2017 – themed ambience installation and game activation booths,” he said, adding that it was part of their initiative to fulfil the mission in creating a joyful experience for the airport users.

Badlisham said, MAHB, which was also the Gold Sponsor of the Games, would facilitate arrivals through close collaboration with the Malaysia SEA Games Organising Committee (MASOC), Department of Immigration at KLIA, and also several other organisations in order to make visitors’ arrival at the airport a joyful one.

For example, he said, the KL2017 Accreditation Booths were placed at both terminals (the other klia2) to provide the contingents with relevant information, while several immigration counters were also dedicated to process the contingents upon their arrivals. - Bernama
